A Haiku, The Bats

I was working outside last summer, and nightfall was coming. Where I live, there are some large boulders on the side of the hills that pretty much serve as caves. While I was loading my wheelbarrow, I heard a collective sound of chirps, so I stopped to listen. It was a giant swarm of bats taking to the night sky. I always wanted to do something with that experience, so I figured I’d write a haiku about it. Here I go!

Evanescent day
Night shrouds the earth in silence
Bats claim the night sky

Let me know what you think!
Thanks for reading!

    1. Thank you! It really was something else. I had ear buds in too, listening to music, and still heard them. At first, I thought oh wow a flock of birds but as they came past it was easy to tell it was a group of bats. πŸ¦‡
