A Haiku, The Driftwood

We’ve had some severe rainfall the past few days. As a result, the river levels are pretty high. As I stared at the river, I got fixated on a nice piece of driftwood just flowing along the shoreline and watched it get caught up momentarily. I got thinking, “uh oh, end of your travels.”  The wind was pretty steady throughout the day, but there was sudden gust enough to push me slightly forward at that moment. Alas, the driftwood was free and continued its course.

Needles to say, I wrote a haiku about it!

Driftwood comes to life
The fleeting winds its savior
Guiding river flows

Let me know what you think!
Thanks for reading!

    1. Thanks for the compliment on the haiku. Oh, I know. My daily commute involves riding along a road that neighbors a river. It was nearly up to the posts of the guard rails. I start to get anxious knowing it is not going to take much more to begin the flooding. Floods are awful. Thanks for reading and the support and if you are anywhere near that part of western Europe I wish you all the best and please stay safe. 🙏

    1. Thank you for the compliment! I know, I was just having that conversation the other day. Such a stark contrast. One area has forests burning, another area has a drought going on, and another area has flooding. Please keep safe and thank you so much for reading and the support. 🙏
