A Poem, Inspirational Mentality

It’s been a little while since I’ve wrote an inspirational poem, so I wrote this last night.

Go ahead, continue to sit there
Thinking circles in your angry chair
Anger toils as you dwell and glare
Erase that lugubrious face you wear
What good does this hate give?
What does your festering madness solve?
Look upon thyself to forgive
Don’t wallow in pity; it is time to evolve
Your petulance will only lead to comeuppance
Rest your mind and do not break into aggression
Replace the hate with happiness in abundance
Do not allow yourself to be attracted to depression
Replace your anger with great deeds of beneficence
Replace your depression with outflowing benevolence

Let me know what you think!
Thanks for reading!

  1. Travis,
The words in this poem are what I need now. In the last few days, I found myself trapped in some of those emotions that you have mentioned. It is easy to get derailed in negative, and at times we need a word or two to see that there is more optimism; we need to get up and open our eyes.

    1. Wow! What uncanny timing! It is very easy to wallow in the negative as it can be so vast and almost infinite sometimes. I’m so glad that the poem inspired you and gave you the modicum of optimism to help flip your mentality. Your comment made my day knowing it helped you. I couldn’t agree more, get up and open our eyes. If we veil the world believing all the exists is negative then it becomes our reality. If we allow optimism into our lives we begin to see there is still positivity left in the world. Thank you so much for reading and the encouragement. 🤗🙏

      1. I was trying to complete a post in the morning, I felt disturbed, unfocused and conscious. Couldn’t complete the post.

  2. Whatever the source of your inspiration to write an inspirational piece, doing so benefits us all. Bravo! Here is an idea… let’s print copies of your mood-altering poem and hand it to people who appear to need a positive lift. 😀 Your words might take time to break through anger, but they have the potential to change a mind and expand a heart. 💓

  3. Great work. Have to admit to writing a fair bit of inspirational poetry myself lately ;)) — mostly kept private for now. :)) This one is really well evoked. Excellent reminder and advice. :)) xoxo

      1. Hugs and many thanks. I will think about it. It’s also got to do with time spent online for me, though. Sometimes I just feel I need to keep more quiet. Then I have more time to listen as well. :)) Lots of love xoxo
