A Haiku, The Thunder

Some thunderstorms passed through the area a day ago. For me, it was just distant thunder which was a welcome and quite relaxing sound. It got me thinking about how alluring the sound of thunder can be to a person. Then it got me thinking about the contrast of it all, what hides behind the facade of thunder, the originator of the sounds. So, needless to say, I wrote a haiku about the thunder!

Peal of thunder heard
Day benighted by dark clouds
My tranquil facade

Let me know what you think!

  1. Travis, we had some incredible thunderstorms here last night and the night before. 🌩 As violent as they sound, there is something rather calming about them. I know that this sounds like an oxymoron, but there’s a yin and yang to such storms. Beautiful haiku! πŸ€—βœπŸΌπŸ˜Š

    1. As I type this response it’s storming here. It is so true. I love listening to thunderstorms. I’m the type to stand out on my back deck or front porch to watch and listen. Well said about the yin and yang. Thank you for the compliment and reading. πŸ€—

    1. As I type this response it’s storming here! It was a few minutes of the lovely sound of thunder, and then a brilliant flash, then whammo!β›ˆοΈ I agree. I love the sound of thunder and always stand outside on my deck or front porch to take it all in. Haha! You’ve had rain and whatnot so far, so here’s to hoping! 😁

      1. Thunder is awe-inspiring and sometimes a bit terrifying. We saw rain in Santa Fe, where my daughter and I are, but none back home for quite some time. Yes, hoping, praying, wishing, rain dancing. πŸ˜†

      2. I couldn’t agree more. The unbridled power of lightning is truly something to behold. I’ll kick on some box fans and put them on my roof in an attempt to blow the rain clouds your way. Yes! Yes! Dance the dance of rain! πŸ˜β˜”

    1. Well that stinks! Probably still snowing where you are at I bet. It is still storming here! It has been hours of non-stop storms. So far, this is the first time since moving to this house where we didn’t lose power. I hope it holds out.

      1. Capture a pic of it, if you can! And it’s been unseasonably warm. In May we had June weather. Now June we are having July weather. I saw 69* a couple days ago!!! 😳πŸ₯΅
