Gray fog, rains of ash
Culmination of pressure
Earth shows dominion

I recall conversations or first-hand accounts of the topic. Then I allow myself to become self immersed in the emotion of the moment. It is almost like a meditated state. I close my eyes and put myself in the moment, and then bleed the words. I’ve gotten so deep into a topic that I do become emotional, but the ends justify the means. I know. It is crazy to think about how it is raging on the inside. Meanwhile, it is vibrant with life on the outside.

I went to the Pompeii traveling exhibit in Seattle a few years ago and part of the experience was to sit in this theatre on stone benches, it’s as if you were on a room looking out on Pompeii and.as the movie played and you saw Pompeii being consumed, the floor shook and the lights dimmed and the air filled with smoke.
This haiku reminded me of that.

Wow, that sounds like an exciting experience! Thanks for sharing that. I never experienced a volcano first hand, but I did have a relative who was visiting family in Alaska when Mount Redoubt began to erupt. She snapped a bunch of pictures of the event before leaving. I remember seeing dozens of cars and houses covered in the ash from the ash cloud. I used that experience as motivation to write this haiku.

Haha! When you previously commented with “what is next a volcano haiku?” I was finishing up the post for it. I stopped and looked around checking to see if I was being watched. So I then decided to share my poem instead.😂 I think you should be! Slap that on a resume! Additional skills: Predicting volcanoes. 😂😂
